THOUGHTFUL, KNOWLEDGEABLE AND COST-EFFECTIVE CONSULTING AND PROFESSIONAL SERVICES

About Us Overview

About Us OverviewFarragut Advisory Services LLC is a Washington, D.C. – based consultancy which was founded in June 2011 by Dan Mazella, our Principal and sole owner. We bring to bear our knowledge, expertise and more than twenty five years of experience in Government and commercial contracts, grants and intellectual property, strategic planning, business development, teaming partner identification and negotiations, proposal consulting, opportunity capture and negotiations during all phases of the procurement or grant life cycle. We have been especially focused in the areas of life sciences, biotechnology, public health and healthcare, defense, homeland security, biosecurity and information technology. Farragut Advisory Services LLC is a “Bona Fide Marketing Agency” as that term is used in Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 3.401.

How is Farragut Advisory Services LLC Different from other Consultants?

Mr. Mazella’s deep experience in a variety of business and legal roles in the public and private sectors over the past twenty five years enables us to provide clients with insight and perspective from the point of view of the people “across the table” in any given transaction or matter – which has proven to be a winning advantage for our clients.

Our Approach

In-person contact and “knowing your customer” is the key component of our approach to strategy, business development and marketing, as well as in the formation and maintenance of business relationships and negotiations generally, since we believe strongly that customer and/or partner relationship-building and maintenance is of paramount importance to a client’s success in any market or endeavor.

Dan Mazella is an Attorney – Does Farragut Advisory Services Provide Legal Advice?

No.  For clients who seek to do business with the Government, we provide non-legal consulting assistance in marketing, business development and strategy, opportunity capture, proposal submission and negotiations, including schedule contract proposals for award or renewal.  Since our clients often incorporate a public policy or advocacy component into their federal business development strategies, we offer those services as well.  We furnish compliance consulting on federal-contract related matters based upon our expertise in the FAR, DFAR, GSAM and other regulations but we do not give legal advice.

Why Did We Start a Consulting Firm Instead of a Law Practice?

In 2011, when we were considering the categories and scope of services that the company would offer, Mr. Mazella wanted to focus more on the “business” aspects of government procurement and other areas because he was given a unique opportunity to work as a business lead or co-lead as part of his prior in-house roles counsel and both he and his clients enjoyed the success and rewards that resulted.  In addition, we decided that Farragut Advisory Services could provide extremely high quality consulting services at competitive rates while limiting startup costs and overhead.

In addition, for our commercial clients who are CIOs, work in the supply chain, or are otherwise responsible for purchasing Information Technology (“IT”), including hardware, software, professional services or other services as well as business process or IT outsourcing, we have been extremely successful in creating RFPs for competitive source selection and using that leverage in negotiations with selected vendors or teams.  We are able to demonstrate significant cost savings and provide examples of successful projects that resulted from using the negotiating leverage from an RFP to ensure accountability for performance.
